The BA in English programme at the University teaches literature with a focus on building critical and aesthetic sensibilities in reading different kinds of texts – traditional and newer forms – and capacities in writing. Our teaching practices and curriculum are informed by the needs of a diverse student body and the challenges posed by the context of learning English in India.
Alongside a core English programme that seeks to build knowledge in literatures produced in English, our programme also offers courses in allied areas like Visual Media, and Writing. The English faculty at the University are closely involved in developing courses aimed at fostering communication skills for students from all disciplines, through foundational English language courses.
Azim Premji University, Bhopal, started operations in August 2023, offering postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. In addition to teaching in our programmes, we offer faculty an enriching and fulfilling institution building experience encompassing interdisciplinary programme design, setting up and implementation of key institutional processes, culture building, and participation in various institutional bodies. The University encourages and offers support to faculty members for pursuing their own research.
