Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced professional to manage international procurement, import/export documentation, and overseas vendor coordination for a Ferro Alloy/Steel manufacturing organization.
The candidate will be responsible for sourcing and importing raw materials required for Ferro Alloy production, managing complete EXIM documentation, coordinating with international suppliers, shipping lines, CHA, freight forwarders and banks, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
The candidate must have excellent English communication and negotiation skills and be comfortable dealing directly with foreign suppliers, customers and international business partners.
Key Responsibilities1. International Procurement
- Manage procurement of raw materials from international suppliers for Ferro Alloy manufacturing.
- Source and negotiate for:
- Manganese Ore
- Chrome Ore
- Quartz
- Coke
- Coal
- Dolomite
- Lime
- Electrodes
- Refractories
- Other Ferro Alloy/mineral raw materials
- Identify and develop reliable overseas suppliers and trading partners.
- Obtain quotations, compare commercial terms and negotiate price, quality, quantity and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders and Contracts.
- Negotiate Incoterms, payment terms, LC/TT terms, freight and insurance conditions.
- Monitor international commodity prices and market trends.
2. Import & Export Documentation
- Handle end-to-end Import and Export documentation.
- Prepare and verify:
- Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Bill of Lading
- Certificate of Origin
- Insurance Documents
- Inspection Certificates
- Purchase Orders
- Letters of Credit
- Shipping and Customs Documents
- Ensure accuracy of all documents before shipment and customs clearance.
- Coordinate with CHA, Customs, freight forwarders, shipping lines and port authorities.
- Monitor shipment schedules, ETA/ETD and vessel movement.
- Ensure timely clearance and delivery of imported raw materials.
3. Foreign Supplier Communication
- Communicate directly with foreign suppliers and international business partners through email, telephone and online meetings.
- Negotiate pricing, shipment schedules, payment terms and contractual conditions.
- Follow up with overseas suppliers regarding order confirmation, production, inspection and shipment.
- Resolve issues relating to quality, quantity, documentation, delays and payment.
- Maintain professional long-term relationships with international suppliers.
4. Banking & Commercial Coordination
- Coordinate with banks for LC opening, amendments, document negotiation and international payments.
- Handle TT/advance payment and other international payment processes.
- Verify shipping documents submitted against LC terms.
- Coordinate with Finance & Accounts for timely payments and reconciliation.
- Monitor foreign currency transactions and related commercial documentation.
5. Customs & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable EXIM regulations, Customs, DGFT, FEMA, GST and other statutory requirements.
- Ensure correct HS classification, customs duty and import-related charges.
- Coordinate with CHA for customs clearance and documentation.
- Maintain proper records of all import/export transactions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and international trade regulations.
6. Logistics & Shipment Management
- Coordinate international shipments from supplier to company/plant.
- Monitor vessel booking, freight, port operations, demurrage and detention.
- Track shipments and ensure timely arrival of critical raw materials.
- Coordinate with Logistics, Stores, Finance, Production and Management teams.
- Take corrective action in case of shipment delays or documentation discrepancies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, International Trade, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration or related field.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in International Trade, Import/Export and Procurement.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in the Ferro Alloy / Steel / Mining / Metals industry.
- Proven experience in international procurement of raw materials.
- Strong knowledge of LC, Incoterms, Customs, DGFT, shipping documentation and international payments.
- Excellent English communication and negotiation skills.
- Must be confident in communicating with foreign suppliers and overseas customers.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong commercial, analytical, negotiation and vendor-management skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Mandatory/Preferred Industry Experience: Ferro Alloy / Ferro Chrome / Ferro Manganese / Silico Manganese / Steel / Mining / Metals.
Key Requirement: The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in international procurement and EXIM documentation, particularly for Ferro Alloy/Steel raw materials, with proven experience in dealing and negotiating with foreign suppliers.
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per month
