Position Summary
The Staff Nurse plays a vital role in providing comprehensive nursing care to residents with psychiatric illnesses, substance use disorders, and other mental health conditions. The nurse is responsible for medication administration, physical health monitoring, emergency care, documentation, and supporting the rehabilitation process by promoting a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Resident Care
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to all residents.
- Monitor residents' physical and mental health status on a daily basis.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) whenever required.
- Ensure residents maintain proper personal hygiene, nutrition, hydration, and overall well-being.
- Observe residents for changes in mood, behavior, sleep, appetite, and cognition, and report significant findings promptly.
2. Medication Management
- Administer medications accurately as prescribed by the psychiatrist or physician.
- Ensure timely medication administration and maintain medication compliance.
- Monitor and document medication side effects or adverse reactions.
- Maintain Medication Administration Records (MAR) accurately.
- Ensure safe storage, handling, and inventory of medications.
3. Clinical Monitoring
- Record vital signs as per protocol or physician's instructions.
- Monitor residents with chronic medical conditions and psychiatric illnesses.
- Identify early signs of relapse, withdrawal symptoms, aggression, suicidal ideation, or medical deterioration.
- Assist psychiatrists and physicians during clinical assessments and examinations.
4. Emergency & Crisis Management
- Respond promptly to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
- Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS) when required.
- Manage aggressive or violent behavior using approved de-escalation techniques.
- Coordinate emergency referrals or hospital transfers when necessary.
5. Documentation
- Maintain accurate nursing notes and resident progress records.
- Prepare daily shift reports and handover notes.
- Record incidents, accidents, injuries, medication errors, and emergency interventions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident records and clinical information.
6. Infection Prevention & Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control protocols.
- Ensure cleanliness of nursing stations, treatment rooms, and medical equipment.
- Monitor residents for communicable diseases and report concerns immediately.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for residents and staff.
7. Rehabilitation Support
- Encourage residents to participate in therapy sessions, group activities, yoga, meditation, occupational therapy, and recreational programs.
- Motivate residents to follow structured daily routines.
- Reinforce rehabilitation goals and healthy lifestyle practices.
8. Family & Team Coordination
- Coordinate with psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, occupational therapists, and support staff.
- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Communicate resident updates to families only as directed by the treating team.
- Support the admission, discharge, and follow-up process.
Qualifications
- GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid Nursing Council Registration.
- Experience in psychiatry, mental health, de-addiction, rehabilitation, or hospital nursing is preferred.

Pay: ₹15,086.00 - ₹23,644.67 per month
