Position Summary
PSTM Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a proactive and technically competent Purchase Engineer to manage the procurement of raw materials, machining services, bought-out components, and engineering consumables required for manufacturing process equipment such as reactors, pressure vessels, storage tanks, agitators, and skid systems.
The ideal candidate should possess strong vendor management skills, technical understanding of mechanical engineering components, and the ability to procure quality materials at competitive prices while ensuring timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities1. Raw Material Procurement
- Purchase Stainless Steel (SS304, SS304L, SS316L, Duplex, Super Duplex) plates, coils, pipes, tubes, flats, rods, fittings, flanges, and structural materials.
- Purchase Carbon Steel materials including SA516, IS2062, ASTM A106, A53, etc.
- Source materials strictly as per engineering drawings and material specifications.
- Verify MTC (Mill Test Certificates), material grades, dimensions, and standards before procurement.
- Coordinate with QA/QC for material approvals.
2. Machining Procurement
Coordinate machining jobs with approved vendors for:
- Agitator shafts
- Impellers
- Manholes
- Flanges
- Bearing housings
- Seal housings
- Couplings
- Bushes
- Spacer rings
- Precision machined components
- CNC, VMC, Turning, Milling and Boring jobs
Ensure machining tolerances and surface finishes meet engineering drawing requirements.
3. Bought-Out Components
Procure mechanical equipment including:
- Mechanical Seals
- Gearboxes
- Electric Motors
- Pumps
- Valves
- Sight Glasses
- Pressure Gauges
- Temperature Gauges
- Safety Valves
- Butterfly Valves
- Ball Valves
- Butterfly Dampers
- Gaskets
- Fasteners
- Hygienic fittings
- SMS/TC fittings
- Bearings
- Couplings
4. Electrical Procurement
Procure electrical items including:
- Control Panels
- VFDs
- PLC Components
- Sensors
- Limit Switches
- Junction Boxes
- Cable Glands
- Push Buttons
- MCCBs
- Contactors
- Industrial Cables
- Cable Trays
- Electrical Consumables
Coordinate with electrical engineers for technical specifications.
5. Vendor Development
- Develop new suppliers across India.
- Evaluate vendors based on quality, pricing, delivery, and service.
- Conduct vendor comparisons.
- Maintain approved vendor database.
- Build long-term vendor relationships.
6. RFQ & Cost Negotiation
- Float enquiries to multiple vendors.
- Compare quotations technically and commercially.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, transportation, and delivery schedules.
- Prepare comparative statements.
- Achieve yearly cost reduction targets.
7. Purchase Order Management
- Prepare Purchase Orders (PO).
- Follow internal approval process.
- Track delivery schedules.
- Coordinate dispatch.
- Ensure on-time delivery to production.
8. Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with Stores Department.
- Monitor stock levels.
- Avoid material shortages.
- Reduce excess inventory.
- Plan procurement based on production schedules.
9. Documentation
Maintain records of:
- Purchase Orders
- Quotations
- Vendor Comparisons
- Delivery Challans
- Invoices
- MTCs
- Inspection Reports
- Vendor Performance Reports
10. Coordination
Work closely with:
- Design Department
- Production
- QA/QC
- Stores
- Planning
- Accounts
Ensure smooth procurement activities aligned with project timelines.

Experience
- 2–6 years in engineering or fabrication industry.
- Experience in Stainless Steel fabrication, Pressure Vessel, Process Equipment, Pharmaceutical Equipment, Chemical Equipment, or Heavy Engineering preferred.
Preferred Industry Experience
Candidates having procurement experience in companies manufacturing:
