PACCAR India is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its dynamic Pune team, specializing in the design and development of plastic interior trims, exterior body components, as well as sheet metal and casting parts for commercial vehicles using advanced manufacturing processes.
As a Mechanical Engineer at PACCAR, you will apply your expertise in plastic, sheet metal, and casting design, along with CAD modelling and manufacturing processes, to develop robust, ergonomic, and production-ready solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop plastic and sheet metal components using industry-standard CAD software (Creo)
Create detailed 2D/3D models, engineering drawings, Bill Of Material, and technical documentation
Participate in daily calls with onsite manufacturing and production teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with production capabilities
Conduct and support design input studies to define product requirements, specifications, and design parameters before detailed design phase
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and product management
Document design decisions and input study outcomes in PLM for traceability
Perform design analysis and simulations to ensure functionality and durability
Support the complete product development lifecycle from concept to production
Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance
Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and regulations (ASME, etc.)
Troubleshoot design-related issues and implement corrective measures
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical or Production Engineering
Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:
4-7 years of hands‑on experience in Mechanical engineering.
Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
Strong proficiency in Interior and Exterior Trim Design for commercial vehicles.
Solid understanding of Plastic, sheet‑metal design and manufacturing processes.
Familiar with truck systems and components.
Ability to manage and design large assemblies efficiently.
Excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, and engineering drawing practices.
Ability to collaborate with both local and global engineering teams
