We are looking for a highly organized, assertive, and technically sound Technical Document Controller to join our team. If you are passionate about data integrity, eliminating operational chaos, and enforcing a "single source of truth," this role is for you.
Position Overview: As our Technical Document Controller, you will be the absolute gatekeeper of our engineering drawings, technical documents, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). You will bridge the gap between our engineering team and our production floor (20-30 team).
You will be responsible for eliminating local drive storage, managing a centralized server network, preventing duplicate drawings, and ensuring that our production supervisors work *only* from approved, up-to-date revisions. Experience with SolidWorks file structures, assembly references, and server permission management is highly preferred for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Centralization & Server Control: Eliminate local drive file saving. Audit and ensure 100% of active design files are stored and organized inside the company’s centralized Network Attached Storage (NAS) or server environment.
Access Permission Management: Work closely with IT to manage folder-level access permissions (e.g., locking released folders for read-only access, maintaining a secure design sandbox).
* **SolidWorks & Reference Integrity:** Enforce strict file-naming conventions and drawing-numbering systems. Ensure external references in SolidWorks assemblies are maintained, using tools like "Pack and Go" to prevent broken file paths and file duplication.
Change Control (ECN Gatekeeper): Manage the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) workflow. Route drawing revisions to management for approval and immediately move outdated files to a restricted "SUPERSEDED" archive.
Compliance & Floor Audits: Actively support and audit 20-30 production supervisors to ensure they are pulling official drawings directly from the server rather than using outdated printouts or personal files.
Standardization: Establish and maintain a "Standard/Common Components Library" on the server, ensuring designers reuse existing drawings rather than drawing parts from scratch.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 2–5 years of experience in Document Control, Configuration Management, or CAD Administration within an engineering, manufacturing, or construction environment.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of file reference networks—specifically how SolidWorks parts (`.sldprt`), assemblies (`.sldasm`), and drawings (`.slddrw`) link together.
Server Savvy: Comfortable working with shared servers, network folders, and setting up access permissions (Read/Write/Modify). Experience with PDM (Product Data Management) or EDMS software is a massive plus.
Personality Traits: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and **assertive**. You must be comfortable holding both creative designers and busy production supervisors accountable to company procedures.
Education:*Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Data Management, or a related technical field (preferred but equivalent experience is highly valued).
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹400,000.00 per year
Application Question(s):
- 1. Do you have experience managing SolidWorks files, assemblies, or Product Data Management (PDM) systems?
2. Explain briefly how you would handle a supervisor who insists on using an outdated or unapproved drawing on the production floor.
Work Location: In person
