Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of industrial machinery and engineered systems. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in machine design, product development, 3D CAD modelling, engineering calculations, component selection, and project execution from concept to manufacturing.
Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design & Development
- Lead the design and development of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs), Material Handling Systems, Packaging Machines, and other custom industrial equipment.
- Develop machine concepts, layouts, mechanisms, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations for structures, drives, power transmission systems, and machine components.
- Select standard components including motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatic systems, sensors, actuators, and other bought-out parts.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and production documentation.
Project Execution
- Understand customer requirements and convert them into practical engineering solutions.
- Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, vendors, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards and safety requirements.
- Support prototype development, machine assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor and guide junior design engineers.
- Review and approve engineering drawings and design deliverables.
- Establish and maintain engineering documentation and design standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the design team.
Required Skills
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in industrial machine design.
- Strong knowledge of machine elements, manufacturing processes, and engineering standards.
- Experience in designing SPMs, Material Handling Systems, Packaging Machinery, Conveyors, or Industrial Automation Equipment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong understanding of engineering calculations, component sizing, and mechanical assemblies.
- Knowledge of Pneumatics, Motion Control Systems, and Manufacturing Documentation.
- Ability to independently manage projects from concept to manufacturing release.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Experience working directly with customers, vendors, and manufacturing teams.
- Knowledge of CE, ISO, ASME, or other international engineering standards.
