Role Overview
The Retail Sales Manager – North Zone will be responsible for leading and driving retail business growth across Modern Trade (MT) and General Trade (GT) channels in the North India region. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, distributor management, and hands-on execution capabilities to achieve revenue, distribution, and profitability targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Regional Sales Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute sales strategy for the North Zone aligned with company objectives.
- Drive revenue growth across Modern Trade chains and General Trade distribution networks.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the region.
- Monitor primary and secondary sales performance and ensure consistent growth.
- Modern Trade Management
- Manage relationships with key MT accounts such as national & regional supermarket chains.
- Lead annual business planning (ABP), joint business plans (JBP), and trade negotiations.
- Ensure strong listing, visibility, shelf placement, planogram compliance, and promotional execution.
- Track ROI on trade marketing spends and promotional activities.
- General Trade & Distributor Management
- Appoint, manage, and monitor regional distributors and sub-distributors.
- Expand numeric and weighted distribution across cities and key towns.
- Ensure efficient order management, stock rotation, and collection control.
- Drive sales team performance at distributor level.
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and monitor Area Sales Managers / Sales Executives across the North Zone.
- Set performance KPIs and conduct regular reviews.
- Provide on-ground support for key account closures and distributor expansion.
- Market Development & Expansion
- Identify new market opportunities and expansion territories.
- Monitor competitor activity, pricing, and category trends.
- Drive new product launches and ensure market penetration.
- Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare sales forecasts, budget plans, and MIS reports.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams for seamless execution.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and credit norms.

Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate in Business / Marketing (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in FMCG / Premium Food / Retail Sales.
- Minimum 6–8 years handling Modern Trade & General Trade at a regional level.
- Strong understanding of North Indian retail markets.
- Experience in managing distributors and retail sales teams.
