JOB DESCRIPTION – TECHNICIAN (MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT)
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Engineer
Location: Manufacturing Plant – Chennai
Position: Technician – Maintenance
Experience: 2–5 Years
Qualification: Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering Trade (ITI Prefered)
Job Purpose
To ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of plant machinery by carrying out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities while maintaining safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of production machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults and carry out timely repairs.
- Attend machine breakdowns promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Inspect machines regularly and report abnormalities to the Maintenance Engineer.
- Maintain maintenance records, checklists, and daily work reports.
- Assist in installation, commissioning, and relocation of plant equipment.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE requirements, and all plant safety procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering departments during maintenance activities.
- Comply with company policies and ISO/IATF/Environmental and Safety Management System requirements.
- Perform any other maintenance-related duties assigned by the reporting manager.
