Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to perform blood sample collection and other specimen collection services at patients' homes. The ideal candidate will have excellent venipuncture skills, strong patient communication abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy, and professionalism while providing convenient home-based healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to patients' homes according to assigned schedules.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures safely and accurately.
- Collect, label, process, and transport specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols.
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate completion of requisition forms and documentation.
- Maintain specimen integrity and follow proper storage and transportation procedures.
- Educate patients regarding collection procedures and answer basic questions.
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable healthcare regulations.
- Manage collection supplies, equipment, and inventory.
- Report any collection issues, patient concerns, or specimen-related problems promptly.
- Coordinate with laboratories, healthcare providers, and administrative staff as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of daily visits and completed collections.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Phlebotomy (where required by local regulations).
- Proven experience performing venipuncture and specimen collection.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned service area.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of specimen handling, infection control, and laboratory procedures.
- Basic computer and mobile application skills for documentation and scheduling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in home healthcare, phlebotomy, or diagnostic services.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
