We are currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Purchase Manager to join our growing team in Mumbai.
Job Summary
The Purchase Manager will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of ship spares, provisions, stores, and technical services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maritime procurement, vendor negotiation, and inventory management, ensuring that all supplies are delivered cost-effectively and on schedule to support our vessels worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement Operations: Handle end-to-end purchasing cycles for marine spares, engine/deck stores, safety equipment, and provisions in compliance with company procedures and budget constraints.
- Vendor Management: Source, evaluate, and negotiate with global suppliers, ship chandlers, and service providers to secure the best pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Logistics & Delivery: Coordinate with port agents, freight forwarders, and vessel masters to ensure timely delivery of goods to vessels globally, minimizing port delays.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Monitor purchasing budgets, analyze expenditure reports, and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or compliance.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all supplied items meet international maritime standards, classification societies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISM, ISO).
- Inventory & System Management: Maintain accurate purchasing records, process invoices, and utilize maritime ERP/procurement software for requisition tracking.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2 to 3 years of proven experience as a Purchase Executive or Purchase Manager specifically within the shipping/shipmanagement industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field. (A background in marine engineering or nautical science is a strong plus).
- Industry Knowledge: Sound understanding of ship spares, marine stores, and global port logistics.
- Skills:
- Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and marine procurement software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
