Core Responsibilities
Drawing Creation: Develop detailed 2D gasket drawings using AutoCAD, defining critical features such as profiles, hole patterns, Pitch Circle Diameters (PCDs), and thicknesses.
Reverse Engineering: Convert physical gasket samples and original equipment (OE) references into accurate technical illustrations for manufacturing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with tooling, production, and Quality Control (QC) teams to ensure designs meet technical specifications and are manufacturable.
Quality & Documentation: Perform quality checks on completed drawings to verify dimensions and materials. Maintain an organised library of drawing files and revisions.
Production Support: Support trials and first-article approvals on the shop floor to validate that drawings translate correctly to finished products.
Key Skills & Tools
Primary Software: Mandatory proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting. Knowledge of SolidWorks or CATIA is often considered a major plus.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ASME standards, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
Industry Experience: Most roles require hands-on experience specifically with automotive or industrial gaskets.
Materials: Basic knowledge of material properties (metal, composites) and their behavior during manufacturing.
