Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Siemens PLC Programmer / Automation Engineer with strong knowledge of industrial automation and process control systems for Oil & Gas and Petrochemical applications.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in Siemens PLC programming, TIA Portal, OPC UA, industrial communication protocols, ICSS/DCS integration, HMI/SCADA and process automation. The role involves PLC software development, system integration, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, modify and troubleshoot Siemens PLC programs using TIA Portal / STEP 7.
* Work with Siemens S7-1200, S7-1500 and S7-400 PLC platforms.
* Develop PLC logic for process control, sequence control, interlocks, permissives, alarms and equipment control.
* Develop and integrate HMI/SCADA systems with PLCs.
* Configure and troubleshoot OPC UA communication between PLCs, SCADA, DCS/ICSS and higher-level systems.
* Understand and implement communication between PLC and ICSS/DCS systems.
* Work with industrial communication protocols such as:
* PROFINET
* PROFIBUS DP/PA
* Modbus TCP/IP
* Modbus RTU
* OPC UA
* Ethernet/IP or other project-specific protocols.
* Integrate PLC systems with ICSS (Integrated Control and Safety System) and process control systems.
* Understand process automation concepts, including PID control, analog instrumentation, control loops, sequencing and process interlocks.
* Interface PLC systems with field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters, control valves, motors, pumps and other process equipment.
* Develop communication and data exchange between PLC, DCS, SCADA, ESD, F&G and package systems, as required by the project.
* Prepare and maintain I/O lists, I/O mapping, tag databases, PLC architecture, communication architecture and control narratives.
* Develop software based on P&IDs, Cause & Effect diagrams, Control Philosophies, Functional Design Specifications and I/O documentation.
* Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), SAT (Site Acceptance Test), loop checking and commissioning.
* Troubleshoot PLC hardware, software, communication and field I/O issues during commissioning.
* Support pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities at onshore/offshore Oil & Gas facilities.
* Coordinate with instrumentation, electrical, DCS/ICSS and commissioning teams.
* Prepare technical documentation, test procedures, commissioning reports and software backups.
* Follow project-specific IEC, ISA and Oil & Gas automation standards and client specifications.
* Ensure automation systems are developed with appropriate fail-safe, interlocking and operational requirements.

Educational Qualification
* Bachelor’s / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control & Automation or related engineering discipline.
Preferred Experience
* Experience in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Process Automation projects.
* Experience working with EPC contractors, system integrators or automation companies.
* Knowledge of ICSS/DCS/ESD/F&G systems.
* Experience with OPC UA and PLC-to-DCS/SCADA integration.
* Willingness to travel to onshore/offshore project sites for commissioning and shutdown activities.
Preferred Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of Siemens PLC programming combined with process automation and system integration. The candidate should be able to understand a process from P&ID and control philosophy, develop the PLC logic, establish communication with ICSS/DCS/SCADA, perform FAT/SAT and troubleshoot the complete automation system during commissioning.
