Triage Nurse provides direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, carries responsibilities in collaboration with the Senior Nurse Executive-Triage which includes):
Position Responsibilities
1. Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history triage them accordingly, provide care based on the symptoms and coordinate with doctor for further management.
2. Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol.
3. Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
4. Attend to all the medical needs of the patient as he/she arrives in the emergency and gives report to the clinician on duty based on the priority need of the patient.
5. Works with the doctor, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments
6. Monitor vital parameters,height weight and anthoprometric measurements
7. Dispatches the specimen to the laboratory for analysis after completion of the procedure and maintains records.
8. Takes part in maintaining proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment for care of the patients and reports to the Lead Nurse Specialist/ Senior Nurse Executive in case of breakdown.
9. Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, and rehabilitation, as well as provides referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow-up treatment.
10. Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner.
11. Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms. . i.e. MLC, Death etc.

13. Ensure patient safety and quality of care as per protocol
14. Practice nursing code of ethics
15. Attend in-service education as per schedule
16. Report incidents
