Studio Andem is a growing architecture and interior design practice based in Kochi, working across residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. We are a design-first studio that values creative rigour, technical accuracy, and a deeply collaborative way of working.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Interior Designer will work closely with the Principal Designer and design team to develop interior concepts, prepare detailed drawings and specifications, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and drive projects from concept through to execution and handover. This is a hands-on role that combines strong design sensibility with technical delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop interior design concepts, space plans, and mood boards for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects
- Prepare detailed design drawings — floor plans, wall elevations, ceiling layouts, electrical layouts, and joinery drawings in AutoCAD
- Create 3D visualisations and presentation renders using SketchUp, Enscape, or equivalent tools
- Develop material specifications, finish schedules, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
- Source materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes — coordinate with vendors for samples, pricing, and delivery
- Conduct site visits to monitor execution quality, verify dimensions, and resolve on-site design queries
- Assist in client meetings, design presentations, and approval processes
- Coordinate with civil contractors, MEP consultants, and execution teams for accurate implementation of design intent
- Maintain organised drawing sets, revision logs, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong design sensibility — a natural eye for space, proportion, colour, and material
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for detailed drawing production; SketchUp for 3D modelling and visualisation
- Working knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture systems, and interior construction detailing
- Ability to produce accurate BOQs and material schedules
- Strong vendor and supplier coordination skills — sourcing, sampling, and negotiation
- Good communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines
- Proficiency in Canva, MS PowerPoint, or equivalent tools for client presentations
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Education: B.Arch / B.Des / Diploma in Interior Design — recognised institution
- Experience: 2–4+ years in interior design practice
- Software: AutoCAD (essential), SketchUp (essential), Enscape / Lumion (preferred)
- Project type: Residential and commercial — hospitality experience a plus
- Documentation: Demonstrated experience in BOQs and finish schedules
