JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Production Head
Company: Annapurna Spices
Location: Rajpura
1. ROLE PURPOSE
The Production Head is responsible for complete control of manufacturing operations including production planning, raw material utilization, manpower management, quality coordination, and timely dispatch, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and hygienic production.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. PRODUCTION PLANNING AND EXECUTION
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on sales orders
- Ensure production is completed as per plan and timelines
- Allocate work shift-wise and person-wise
- Ensure optimal machine utilization
- Avoid production delays and bottlenecks
B. RAW MATERIAL CONTROL
- Ensure availability of all required raw materials before production
- Coordinate with warehouse for material planning
- Monitor consumption of raw materials
- Prevent wastage, leakage, or misuse
- Maintain batch-wise raw material tracking
C. PROCESS MANAGEMENT (END-TO-END CONTROL)
- Ensure all production steps are followed properly:
- Cleaning
- Grinding
- Blending
- Sieving
- Prevent cross-contamination between products
- Ensure proper batch handling and identification
- Maintain consistency in product output
D. MANPOWER MANAGEMENT
- Manage production staff and shift incharges
- Assign duties clearly to each worker
- Monitor attendance and productivity
- Ensure discipline on the shop floor
- Handle worker issues and resolve conflicts
E. QUALITY COORDINATION
- Coordinate with quality team for checks at all stages
- Ensure no product moves forward without quality approval
- Take immediate action on quality issues
- Maintain product consistency in taste, color, and texture
F. WASTAGE AND COST CONTROL
- Monitor daily production vs wastage
- Identify reasons for wastage
- Implement corrective actions
- Maintain minimum wastage levels
G. PACKAGING CONTROL
- Ensure correct packaging material is used
- Ensure correct weight and labeling
- Monitor packaging speed and accuracy
- Avoid packing errors and rework
H. INVENTORY AND STOCK COORDINATION
- Coordinate with warehouse for:
- Raw material availability
- Finished goods transfer
- Ensure proper stock flow between departments
- Avoid overproduction and stock mismatch
I. MACHINE AND MAINTENANCE CONTROL
- Ensure all machines are in working condition
- Report breakdowns immediately
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs
- Maintain machine usage and downtime records
J. HYGIENE AND SAFETY
- Ensure strict cleanliness in production area
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards
- Ensure workers use proper protective gear
- Maintain safe working environment
K. REPORTING AND DOCUMENTATION
- Maintain and verify:
- Daily Production Report
- Batch Records
- Wastage Reports
- Shift Handover Reports
- Submit daily updates to management
- Ensure all records are accurate and complete
L. DISPATCH COORDINATION
- Ensure finished goods are ready as per dispatch plan
- Coordinate with dispatch team
- Avoid delays in order fulfillment
M. PROBLEM SOLVING AND CONTROL
- Identify production issues and resolve quickly
- Handle emergency situations (machine, manpower, material)
- Ensure smooth operations without disruption
3. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI)
- Production vs plan achievement
- Wastage percentage
- Machine downtime
- Order fulfillment time
- Quality rejection rate
- Labor productivity
4. REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong production and operations knowledge
- Ability to manage teams and shifts
- Problem-solving mindset
- Attention to detail
- Basic computer and reporting skills
5. QUALIFICATION
- Graduate (preferred)
- Experience in manufacturing / food / spices industry preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience
6. WORKING CONDITIONS
- Factory-based role
- 6 days working
- May require extended hours during peak production
