Education: BE/Diploma in Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial/ Electrical Engineering etc.
EXPERIENCE: 8 to 16 years in supply chain, vendor development (e.g., automotive, capital goods, industrial components). Desired experience in development of Casting/Forging/ Fabrication parts/ Electrical/ Automation/ Proprietary items, machining items etc.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and core quality tools (8D, 5-Why, Six Sigma). Good at spoken English.
Software: Hands-on experience with AutoCAD, ERP systems (MS Dynamics preferred) and strong techno-commercial evaluation skills.
Preferred Industry Experience: Experience in Concrete/ Earthmoving/ Capital Goods / Automotive industry is preferable.
Core Role & Objectives:
- Identify and onboard new strategic suppliers to optimize the approved vendor list and reduce single-source dependencies.
- Verify effectiveness of desired process at source. Track supplier KPIs (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Development) and implement corrective actions (CAPA) for defects.
- Lead VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) initiatives, conduct should-cost analysis and negotiate pricing to achieve annual cost-saving targets. Complete knowledge of various manufacturing processes, zero based costing, warranty management etc.
- Ensure suppliers strictly adhere to engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and recommended manufacturing standards.
- Ensure development of tooling/ fixtures/ gauges etc. to maintain the consistency in quality of products.
- Initiate, coordinate and complete the desired product certifications from certifying agency.
- Initiate the new product development and complete within the stipulated time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor Capacity/ Capability audit. Conduct process capability studies, evaluate manufacturing environments, and perform quality audits (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Work closely with the Manufacturing Engg/ R&D/Design team on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) inputs, tooling development, and weight verification.
- Monitor vendor capacity constraints, forecast raw material availability, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Align sourcing with production schedules, manage engineering change notifications (ECN) at the vendor end, and resolve quality-related roadblocks.
