1. Educational Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution (e.g., AICTE-approved).
- Certification in CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software, such as AutoCAD certification or equivalent.
- Preferred: Additional training in water resources engineering or hydrology.
2. Professional Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a draftsman in water supply, plumbing, or civil construction projects.
- Hands-on experience with water works projects, such as designing pipelines, reservoirs, treatment plants, or irrigation systems.
- Proven track record in preparing as-built drawings, site plans, and hydraulic models for similar infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with projects compliant with Indian regulations, including Jal Jeevan Mission guidelines or urban water supply norms.
3. Technical Skills
- Proficiency in drafting software: AutoCAD (essential),Auto level, Revit, Civil 3D, or MicroStation for creating 2D/3D models of water systems.
- Knowledge of hydraulic design tools, such as EPANET or WaterCAD, for simulating water flow and pressure.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, survey data, and specifications to produce accurate drawings (e.g., piping layouts, cross-sections, and elevation views).
- Understanding of materials used in water supply (e.g., PVC/HDPE pipes, valves, pumps) and their drafting representations.
- Experience with GIS (Geographic Information System) for mapping water networks is a plus.
4. Knowledge of Standards and Regulations
- Strong grasp of relevant Indian codes and standards: BIS (e.g., IS 4984 for pipes), CPWD specifications, and NBC (National Building Code) for water supply systems.
- Awareness of environmental and safety regulations, including pollution control norms from CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) and water conservation practices.
- Ability to ensure drawings comply with local Delhi Jal Board (DJB) or municipal requirements for water infrastructure.
5. Soft Skills and Other Requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy to avoid costly errors in construction.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with engineers, architects, and site teams.
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle revisions based on project feedback.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi (for Delhi-based projects); basic computer skills including MS Office for reporting.
- Physical ability to visit sites if needed for measurements or verifications.
- Preferred: Local candidates from Delhi/NCR for ease of coordination; willingness to work on-site or hybrid.
