Job Summary
We are looking for a creative and passionate Handicraft & Home Decor Product Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing handmade crafts, home décor, and seasonal products, with strong knowledge of design software and various materials used in product development. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with artisans and contribute to innovative product collections for international markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design innovative handicrafts, home décor, and seasonal products (such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter, and other festive collections).
- Develop original product concepts based on market trends and customer preferences.
- Create product drawings, technical artwork, and design specifications using CAD and graphic design software.
- Collaborate with artisans and production teams to ensure designs are developed accurately.
- Prepare product presentations, mood boards, and concept collections.
- Research market trends, materials, colours, and design styles to develop new product ideas.
- Work with materials such as wood, fabric, resin, MDF, metal, paper, and other decorative materials.
- Coordinate with merchandising and production teams during product development.
- Maintain design documentation and product development records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Design, Fine Arts, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Handicraft Product Designer, Home Décor Product Designer.
- Experience designing products for export markets is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in CAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other design software.
- Strong knowledge of product design and development.
- Understanding of handicraft manufacturing techniques and materials.
- Experience working with wood, fabric, resin, MDF, paper, metal, and other decorative materials.
- Strong creativity, sketching, and visualisation skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of seasonal product design and international home décor trends.
- Experience preparing technical drawings and production-ready artwork.
- Portfolio demonstrating original product designs.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
