The Role
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to lead retail expansion initiatives for its portfolio of international fashion brands. The role focuses on identifying prime retail locations, building relationships with mall developers and landlords, negotiating lease agreements, and driving store growth across India.
What You'll Do
-Drive Retail Expansion: Identify, evaluate, and secure premium retail spaces across malls, high streets, and other strategic commercial locations to support the growth of our international fashion brands.
-Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with mall developers, landlords, property owners, and real estate consultants to create a robust pipeline of expansion opportunities.
-Lead Lease Negotiations: Take ownership of lease discussions and commercial negotiations, ensuring favorable terms while aligning with the company's financial and strategic objectives.
-Evaluate Market Opportunities: Conduct in-depth market research, competitor benchmarking, and feasibility studies to identify high-potential cities, catchment areas, and retail destinations for expansion.
-Perform Site Assessments: Visit potential locations to assess footfall, visibility, accessibility, demographics, and overall commercial viability before recommending sites for approval.
-Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with retail operations, finance, design, legal, and leadership teams to ensure seamless execution of store acquisitions, fit-outs, and successful launches.
-Manage the Expansion Pipeline: Track potential opportunities from identification to deal closure, maintain accurate documentation, and provide regular updates on project status, negotiations, and timelines.
-Support Strategic Growth Planning: Contribute to long-term retail expansion strategies by monitoring industry trends, emerging retail hubs, and evolving consumer behavior to identify new business opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- MBA / Postgraduate degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Marketing, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in business development, retail expansion, leasing, or retail real estate roles.
- Experience working with retail brands, mall developers, or real estate consulting firms is preferred.
- Strong understanding of retail real estate markets, mall ecosystems, and high-street retail formats.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate location feasibility and commercial viability.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
