1. Position Purpose
The Plant Head will lead the end-to-end establishment of a state-of-the-art Greenfield manufacturing facility. This begins with infrastructure development and machinery installation, transitioning into full-scale production of Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear products. The primary goal is to deliver a fully commissioned plant that meets global quality standards, on time and within budget.
2. Key Responsibilities
Phase I: Greenfield Infrastructure & Setup
- Facility Development: Oversee the construction and design of the shop floor layout, ensuring optimized material flow and adherence to Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Machinery Procurement: Lead the selection, sourcing, and installation of specialized equipment such as CNC turret punch presses, busbar bending machines, powder coating lines, and secondary injection test kits.
- Statutory Compliance: Secure all industrial licenses, electrical inspectorate clearances, environmental permits, and safety certifications required for an LV/MV plant.
- Utilities Setup: Manage the installation of high-capacity electrical substations, compressed air systems, and firefighting infrastructure.
Phase II: Technology & Process Integration
- Product Implementation: Manage the technology transfer for LV/MV product lines, including Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS), Motor Control Centers (MCC), and Distribution Boards.
- Testing Labs: Establish in-house testing facilities for Dielectric tests, Temperature rise, and Mechanical endurance as per IEC 61439 (LV) and IEC 62271 (MV) standards.
- Supply Chain: Build a robust vendor base for core components: Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs), Contactors, Relays, Copper Busbars, and Enclosures.
Phase III: Operational Leadership
- Production Excellence: Once commissioned, take full P&L responsibility for plant operations, targeting high Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and minimal waste.
- Quality Assurance: Implement a rigorous Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure 100% compliance with type-test specifications and customer requirements.
- Team Building: Recruit and mentor a core team of Department Heads across Production, Quality, SCM, and Maintenance.
3. Technical Requirements (LV/MV Focus)
- Voltage Range Expertise: Deep technical understanding of LV (up to 1000V) and MV (3.3kV to 33kV) systems.
- Standards Knowledge: Proficiency in global switchgear standards (IEC/ANSI/IEEE) and local utility regulations.
- Safety: Mastery of electrical safety protocols for high-voltage testing environments.
4. Candidate Profile
- Experience: 5+years in the Switchgear industry, with at least one successful Greenfield setup in a senior leadership capacity.
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering; MBA in Operations or Project Management is highly preferred.
- Strategic Agility: Ability to pivot between construction site management and boardroom strategy.
- Financial Acumen: Proven track record in managing multi-million dollar Capex and Opex budgets.
- Negotiation: Strong skills in dealing with EPC contractors and global machinery OEMs.
5. Success Metrics (KPIs)
- Commissioning Timeline: Plant ready for commercial production within the stipulated months.
- Budget Adherence: Maintaining project costs within 5% of the initial Capex plan.
- First Pass Yield (FPY): Achieving greater than 95% quality yield within the first 3 months of production.
- EHS Excellence: Achieving a "Zero Harm" record during the construction and installation phase.
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
