Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation: Preparing patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, positioning them correctly on the examination table, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Equipment Operation: Operating various imaging equipment, such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines, to capture diagnostic images.
- Image Acquisition: Adjusting settings and positioning the equipment to obtain high-quality images for diagnosis.
- Radiation Safety: Ensuring the safety of both themselves and the patients by adhering to radiation safety protocols and using protective measures.
- Image Processing: May be involved in developing, fixing, and labeling X-ray films or assisting with digital image processing.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining patient records and documentation related to imaging procedures.
Education and Training:
- Diploma or Degree: Radiographer technicians typically need to complete a diploma or degree program in radiologic technology or a related field.
- Certification and Licensing: Many states require or prefer certification and licensing for radiologic technologists.
