The Role
- You'll own engineering execution for a major slice of the platform — either our shared product surfaces (ChallanPay / RSP / LOTS247 / Admin) or infrastructure and APIs. This is hands-on: ~60% architecture and code, ~30% mentoring and unblocking, ~10% sprint orchestration.
- You'll work directly with the CTO on roadmap, hiring, and the technical bar.
- You will lead 4–6 engineers (mids, juniors, interns), set the quality standard, and be the second technical voice in the room after the CTO for your area.
What You'll Do
Own architecture decisions across your domain — schemas, API contracts, queue topology, integration patterns
Run weekly architecture reviews; unblock the team; do real code reviews (not rubber-stamp)
Set and enforce the engineering quality bar — testing discipline, observability, on-call hygiene, incident response
Own production incidents — RCA, postmortem, prevention. (You'll inherit and extend tribal knowledge from incidents like the VehicleRCRecords missing-index issue that took CPU to 99%.)
Mentor mids and juniors; pair on hard problems; grow at least 2 of them measurably in the year
Interview and help close 4–5 hires for your area through FY27 Partner with the other Tech Lead, the Senior Engineers, and Product on cross-cutting concerns

What We're Looking For
Must-Have
8+ years building production backend / full-stack systems
At least 2 years leading 4+ engineers (formal lead or de facto)
Strong TypeScript + Node.js (NestJS preferred); strong PostgreSQL/MySQL schema and query design
Has owned a system with real users, real money, and real incidents — not just greenfield
Good at trade-off conversations: build vs buy, refactor vs rewrite, ship vs polish
Comfortable in early-stage ambiguity; doesn't wait for perfectly written tickets
Nice-to-Have
Prior legal-tech, fintech, fleet/auto-tech, or B2B2C SaaS
BullMQ or similar queue-heavy systems experience
Indian regulatory complexity (GST, DPDP, e-challan, Pure Agent / Rule 33)
Open-source contributions or visible technical writing
Success Looks Like
30 days — You've read every service in your area, met every engineer, and given the CTO a written take on the top 5 risks and top 5 quick wins
90 days — Two of those quick wins are shipped; architecture review cadence is running; one engineer is meaningfully unblocked because of you
6 months — Production incident rate down 40%+; you've hired 1–2 of the open roles in your area; your domain feels like a coherent platform
12 months — You're the trusted second technical voice for your area; one of your reports is ready for promotion
