The HVAC Design Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, estimating, and preparing engineering drawings for HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, educational, and residential projects. The role requires close coordination with clients, consultants, architects, project engineers, procurement, and execution teams to ensure technically sound, cost-effective, and timely project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC System Design
- Design HVAC systems based on project requirements and applicable standards.
- Perform HVAC load calculations using industry-standard software.
- Select appropriate equipment including chillers, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems, exhaust systems, pumps, and cooling towers.
- Prepare HVAC layouts, duct routing, piping layouts, and equipment positioning.
Engineering & Drawings
- Prepare detailed shop drawings and coordination drawings using AutoCAD/Revit.
- Develop duct sizing, pipe sizing, and air distribution calculations.
- Prepare HVAC schematics and system flow diagrams.
- Coordinate MEP drawings with architectural, structural, plumbing, and electrical services.
Estimation & BOQ
- Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
- Estimate material quantities and project costs.
- Prepare technical specifications and tender documents.
- Evaluate vendor quotations and recommend suitable equipment.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with project execution teams during installation.
- Resolve technical issues at project sites.
- Attend project meetings with clients and consultants.
- Provide technical support during inspections and commissioning.
Documentation
- Prepare design calculations and engineering reports.
- Maintain project documentation and revision records.
- Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with IS, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NBC, and other applicable standards.
- Ensure energy-efficient and cost-effective designs.
- Follow company quality procedures and engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Certification in HVAC Design will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3–4 years of experience in HVAC design and engineering.
- Experience in commercial, hospital, industrial, pharmaceutical, hotel, and institutional projects is preferred.
