Job Description – OT Staff Nurse
Location : Medway Hospital, Mogappair
Job Title: OT Staff Nurse
Department: Operation Theatre (OT)
Reports To: OT In-Charge / Nursing Superintendent
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the Operation Theatre before surgical procedures.
- Ensure all surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables are sterilized and readily available.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and other healthcare professionals during surgeries.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control protocols.
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative patient care in the OT.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent before procedures.
- Monitor and document patient status during surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate OT records, instrument counts, and nursing documentation.
- Handle surgical specimens as per hospital protocol.
- Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment and report any malfunctions.
- Coordinate with the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) for instrument sterilization.
- Maintain adequate stock of OT supplies and consumables.
- Respond effectively during emergency surgeries.
- Follow hospital policies, NABH standards, and patient safety guidelines.
Qualifications
- GNM or B.Sc. Nursing.
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration.
- BLS certification preferred (ACLS is an added advantage).
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in an Operation Theatre.
- Freshers may be considered based on hospital requirements.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of OT procedures and sterile techniques.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of surgical instruments and OT equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety
Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
