Key Job Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greeting customers, taking orders, and answering menu questions.
- Food Preparation & Service: Serving food from counters, steam tables, or, and operating equipment like grills, fryers, and coffee machines.
- Order Assembly: Portioning, wrapping, or plating food, and assembling take-out orders.
- Cashier Duties: Processing payments using a cash register or POS system.
- Sanitation & Cleaning: Cleaning service areas, washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, and disposing of trash.
- Stocking: Replenishing refrigerators, salad bars, and condiment stations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to interact positively with customers.
- Speed and Efficiency: Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic Math: For handling cash transactions.
- Food Safety Knowledge: Understanding of sanitation regulations (often requiring or preferring food handler certification).
- Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for long periods and lifting light to moderate loads.
Working Environment
Commonly employed in fast food outlets, cafeterias, hospitals, hotels, and cafes. The role often requires shift work, including weekends and evenings.
