Purpose of the Role:
To work closely with key stakeholders in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, supplanted with year-over-year productivity improvements of 5% in the total cost of goods and services procured while maintaining or improving product quality and vendor service levels
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Oversee the development and execution of strategies through the strategic sourcing process for specific Category Group of spend areas

Serve as primary champion and process leader for the strategic sourcing process for each of the spend areas

Measure and Track forecasted vs actual savings for the Category Group of commodities and is responsible for communicating performance against these measures and their potential budgetary impact

Responsible for leading strategic sourcing efforts in specific commodity areas as necessary/appropriate.

Work actively with key stakeholders such as Engineering and Marketing to ensure purchasing is actively engaged in core business processes

Set priorities and performance goals for Core or Lead Buyers, guide strategy development for major commodities, oversee the development of annual strategic sourcing plans which specify how savings goals will be achieved

Establish and maintain contractual and business relationships with the senior management of key suppliers

Achieve small and disadvantaged business sourcing content objectives

Work together with senior stakeholders in the business units to ensure savings are built into budgets and the annual operating plan

Work with each Core or Lead Buyers to ensure sourcing strategies are implemented and TCO reductions are secured according to forecasts

Responsible for breaking down organizational barriers and communicating overall sourcing trends/results for his/her commodities to the Group CPO and business unit purchasing leadership

Develop, champion, and ensure implementation of ideas that will optimize LMW’s total cost of ownership for spend categories

Remain current with market trends through relationships with Sourcing Managers, suppliers and market experts, and ensure LMW has a process to gain access/familiarity with emerging supplier capabilities

Maintain a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as well as any internal policies (e.g. code of ethics) or procedures to ensure that the behavior exhibited by the organization is honest, ethical and professional

Identify/define sourcing best-practices both within and external to LMW and ensure that those best practices are widely adopted by LMW’s business groups

Supervise the Core or Lead Buyers, communicate team progress with the Head - Strategic SCM and senior business unit leadership and ensure clear alignment between team actions and business unit interests

Develop performance objectives and conduct annual reviews with all associated Core or Lead Buyers

Participate in career planning and development for each Sourcing Manager and assume a mentoring relationship with high-potential sourcing professionals

Improve overall sourcing morale by communicating savings opportunities and successes throughout the company for strategic sourcing commodities and will actively champion the elevation of purchasing as a valued and career enhancing experience
