Job Description – House Mother
Position Overview
The House Mother plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being, safety, discipline, and holistic development of boarding students. She serves as a mentor, caregiver, and role model, creating a warm, supportive, and nurturing environment that enables students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while maintaining the highest standards of residential life.
Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Care & Welfare
- Provide day-to-day pastoral care and emotional support to boarding students.
- Foster a safe, caring, and inclusive residential environment.
- Develop positive relationships with students and encourage mutual respect and responsibility.
- Observe students' physical, emotional, and behavioural well-being and report concerns promptly.
- Assist new students in settling into boarding life.
Hostel Supervision
- Ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the boarding house.
- Supervise students during morning and evening routines, study hours, meals, and bedtime.
- Maintain discipline while promoting a positive and respectful living environment.
- Monitor attendance, leave records, and movement of students within the campus.
Health & Safety
- Ensure students maintain personal hygiene and appropriate grooming standards.
- Coordinate with the school infirmary regarding medical care, medication, and health concerns.
- Respond promptly and appropriately during emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, hostel rules, and safety procedures.
Parent Communication
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student welfare when required.
- Address routine boarding-related concerns in coordination with the Head of Boarding.
- Maintain confidentiality while communicating sensitive matters.
Administration
- Maintain boarding records, attendance, leave registers, incident reports, and daily logs.
- Assist in room allocation and boarding documentation.
- Report maintenance requirements and ensure hostel facilities remain clean, safe, and functional.
Student Development
- Encourage good manners, personal responsibility, independence, and leadership.
- Support students in developing life skills and healthy routines.
- Participate in boarding activities, celebrations, excursions, and weekend programmes.
- Promote values such as respect, empathy, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity.
Coordination
- Work closely with Housemistresses, teachers, counsellors, medical staff, wardens, and other support staff.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, laundry, dining, and maintenance departments to ensure students' needs are met efficiently.
Qualifications
- Graduate in any discipline (preferred).
- Certification or training in Child Care, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Nursing, or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a boarding school, hostel, residential institution, childcare, or student welfare role.
- Experience in girls' residential schools will be preferred.

Working Conditions
- Full-time residential position on campus.
- Accommodation and meals provided as per school policy.
- Availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencies as per boarding requirements.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
