Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role
We are looking for a creative and highly capable Social Media Strategist & Manager to lead the social media presence of an international nonprofit organization working across multiple countries.
This is not simply a social media posting role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our social media strategy, identifying stories worth telling, planning content, writing the final copy, coordinating creative assets, and ensuring our digital presence consistently reflects the quality and values of an international organization.
You should be someone who understands both strategy and execution. You can look at an organization's work, identify the strongest story or message, determine how it should be communicated, and turn it into compelling content.

- Create monthly and campaign-specific content plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve reach, engagement, storytelling and audience growth.
- Recommend new content formats, campaigns and digital initiatives.
- Monitor trends and determine which are appropriate for the organization's brand.
Content & Copywriting
- Write the final copy for social media posts, campaigns, announcements and digital storytelling.
- Turn field reports, photographs, videos and program updates into clear and engaging stories.
- Write strong captions, headlines, calls-to-action and campaign messaging.
- Maintain a consistent organizational voice across platforms.
- Proofread and review content before publication.
Social Media Management
- Manage the organization's presence across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and YouTube.
- Maintain and manage the content calendar.
- Schedule and publish content consistently.
- Coordinate with graphic designers, videographers, photographers and program staff.
- Ensure important organizational activities and field projects are properly represented online.
Performance & Growth
- Monitor social media analytics and prepare regular performance reports.
- Track reach, engagement, follower growth and content performance.
- Identify what is working, what is not, and adjust strategy accordingly.
- Research other international organizations and emerging best practices in nonprofit digital communications.
What We're Looking For
- Strong professional English writing and copywriting skills are essential.
- Excellent understanding of social media platforms and current digital trends.
- Ability to think strategically rather than simply execute assigned posts.
- Strong storytelling skills and an eye for identifying meaningful content.
- Ability to independently take rough information and turn it into polished, publication-ready copy.
- Strong attention to detail, grammar and brand consistency.
- Good organizational and content-planning skills.
- Comfortable coordinating with teams working across different locations and countries.
- Ability to work with sensitive community stories respectfully and professionally.
Knowledge of Punjabi and an understanding of Sikh communities and culture would be a strong asset.
Experience
We are more interested in the quality of your work and thinking than the number of years on your CV.
Candidates with approximately 2–5 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, content strategy, copywriting, journalism, marketing or a related field are encouraged to apply.
Experience managing social media for a nonprofit, international organization, agency or established brand would be an advantage.
Who Will Do Well in This Role?
You may be a strong fit if you are the kind of person who:
- Doesn't wait to be told what should be posted.
- Can recognize a good story when you see one.
- Can turn a few photographs and field notes into meaningful content.
- Understands that good social media requires both creativity and planning.
- Can write copy that requires little or no editing before publication.
