Docusign brings agreements to life. Over 1.5 million customers and more than a billion people in over 180 countries use Docusign solutions to accelerate the process of doing business and simplify people’s lives. With intelligent agreement management, Docusign unleashes business-critical data that is trapped inside of documents. Until now, these were disconnected from business systems of record, costing businesses time, money, and opportunity. Using Docusign’s Intelligent Agreement Management platform, companies can create, commit, and manage agreements with solutions created by the #1 company in e-signature and contract lifecycle management (CLM).
Docusign is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their Events, Cache & Queues STaaS platform team. This role owns the strategy, delivery, and operations of core messaging and caching services, including availability, performance, security, and cost optimization across Azure and Google Cloud. You will lead a high-impact engineering team responsible for defining and delivering multi-cloud event and cache abstractions and APIs that decouple product teams from specific cloud substrates. Additionally, the role involves owning SLOs, incident response, and RCAs for queues, topics, and caches, while driving the modernization of eventing and caching patterns across products. Finally, the manager will establish strong partnerships with Microsoft and Google for roadmap alignment on Service Bus, Pub/Sub, Kafka, and managed Redis offerings.
This position is a people manager role reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering in Cloud & Production Engineering.
Build and lead a sustainable, high‑performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, retention, and thoughtful organizational design
Define and execute a multi‑year strategy for Events, Cache & Queues STaaS that balances operational excellence (SLOs, incidents, DR, cost) with platform roadmap (APIs, abstractions, deprecations, migrations)
Own the reliability, availability, and performance of our messaging and caching platforms, including SLOs and error budgets for core queues, topics, and caches, incident response, on‑call health, and post‑incident reviews for event‑driven and cache‑backed services, and disaster recovery strategy and execution for critical event streams and cache layers
Partner with architecture, security, and compliance to define and enforce guardrails for eventing patterns, cache usage patterns, and the safe rollout of changes in regulated environments like GovCloud and IL4/IL5
Lead platform initiatives that reduce risk and cost by consolidating and standardizing messaging and cache usage patterns, implementing cost controls and observability, and enforcing robust DLQ, retry, and redrive patterns to convert SEV‑class incidents into self‑healing workflows
Collaborate with partner teams to prioritize platform investments and migration efforts, align on roadmaps for AI, search, and real‑time workloads, and coordinate joint workstreams with Microsoft and Google on performance, Azure Managed Redis migration guidance, Fleet Pools, and related roadmap topics
Manage the engineering lifecycle for the team by conducting design and code reviews, ensuring high-quality engineering practices, and defining and tracking engineering KPIs to drive continuous improvement
Create a culture of learning, experimentation, and ownership that encourages engineers to tackle hard problems in distributed systems, event‑driven architectures, and multi‑cloud infrastructure
Hybrid:
Employee divides their time between in-office and remote work. Access to an office location is required. (Frequency: Minimum 2 days per week; may vary by team but will be weekly in-office expectation)
Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. Preferred job designations are not guaranteed when changing positions within Docusign. Docusign reserves the right to change a position's job designation depending on business needs and as permitted by local law.
