A Key Accounts Manager (KAM) for Air Import in the freight forwarding/logistics industry manages strategic client relationships to ensure smooth inbound supply chains. They act as the primary liaison between major importers, overseas agents, and internal operations to drive revenue and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Growth: Expand business within existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling integrated air, ocean, and customs services.
- Freight & Pricing Management: Negotiate air freight rates, secure space allocations with airlines, and manage RFQs and pricing strategies.
- Operational Coordination: Act as a single point of contact to resolve escalations regarding customs clearance, delivery orders, and transit milestones.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all air import documentation (AWB, commercial invoices) complies with local customs and trade regulations.
Core Requirements
- Experience: Typically 5 to 10 years of sales and client management experience within international freight forwarding.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of Incoterms, customs brokerage, and P&L management.
