Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for consumables and raw materials based on quality, cost, delivery performance, and service standards.
- Lead price negotiations, commercial discussions, and contract finalization to achieve cost-effective procurement and long-term supplier partnerships.
- Prepare, review, and release Purchase Orders (POs) in compliance with company procurement policies and approval processes.
- Monitor procurement schedules and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials as per production requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Stores, QC, and Planning teams to maintain optimum inventory levels and avoid production interruptions.
- Review incoming materials along with QC/Production teams to ensure compliance with quality specifications and resolve material-related issues.
- Conduct periodic vendor performance evaluations based on delivery timelines, quality consistency, pricing competitiveness, and responsiveness.
- Maintain and update supplier databases, quotation records, comparative statements, and procurement documentation.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports including purchase analysis, consumption trends, budget tracking, savings reports, and pending order status.
- Coordinate with the R&D team for new raw material sourcing, sample procurement, trial material allocation, and development activities.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives by identifying alternate vendors, reducing procurement costs, and improving supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to company procurement procedures, documentation standards, audit requirements, and compliance policies.
- Handle supplier disputes, delivery escalations, and commercial issues effectively while maintaining professional relationships.
- Mentor and guide junior procurement staff when required and support departmental process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in procurement/purchase functions, preferably in manufacturing or fabrication industries.
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, consumables procurement, vendor management, and inventory coordination.
- Experience in price negotiation, supplier development, and procurement planning.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Good communication, analytical, and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple procurement activities under deadlines.
