A solar maintenance technician inspects, cleans, tests, and repairs photovoltaic (PV) solar systems. They troubleshoot electrical faults, monitor energy output via software, and replace broken parts like inverters to keep rooftop or ground-mounted arrays running safely and at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine Inspections: Check panels, mounting structures, and wiring for wear, damage, or shading.
- System Testing: Use multimeters and clamp meters to test AC/DC voltages, grounding, and continuity.
- Fault Repair: Diagnose and fix inverter errors, replace fuses, and swap out broken cables or connectors.
- Panel Cleaning: Remove dust, dirt, and debris to maximize power generation.
- Performance Tracking: Review digital monitoring tools to catch underperforming strings or system downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow electrical codes and use personal protective equipment (PPE) while working outdoors or at heights
