Chi Networks, a leading IT company headquartered in Chicago, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled L2 Networking Engineer with 4-6 years of experience to join our growing team in our Delhi office. Our core offerings include cloud hosting, disaster recovery, email solutions, and data center services, complemented by cloud backup, cybersecurity, anti-virus, firewall, and other value-added services.
As an L2 Networking Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network infrastructure and supporting our clients' diverse networking needs. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems and services within a 24x7 operational environment.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain network infrastructure: Proactively monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and ensure optimal operation of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents: Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues, performance problems, and security incidents on time. This includes working on service requests, incidents, and problems.
Implement network changes: Execute pre-approved changes to network configurations, including VLAN adjustments, routing updates, and firewall rule modifications, adhering to change management procedures.
Support network security: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of network security measures, including firewall policies, VPN configurations, and access controls.
Cloud networking support: Provide support for cloud-based network solutions and connectivity (e.g., AWS VPCs, Azure VNets).
Disaster recovery support: Assist in the maintenance and testing of disaster recovery networking components.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
Collaboration: Work closely with L3 engineers and other IT teams to escalate and resolve complex issues and implement new solutions.
On-call support: Participate in a 24x7 shift rotation to provide continuous network support and incident response.
Client interaction: Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding their network infrastructure and connectivity issues.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
4-6 years of professional experience as an L2 Networking Engineer or in a similar operational role.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, HSRP/VRRP).
Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting equipment from leading network vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
Solid understanding of network security concepts and tools (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
Basic understanding of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud preferred).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24x7 operational environment and handle pressure situations.
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, Fortinet NSE 4, JNCIA) are highly preferred.
