Job Description of Chef
A chef is at the heart of any restaurant—they’re the ones turning ingredients into the food experience guests come for. Their role goes beyond cooking; it includes planning, safety, teamwork, and creativity.
1. Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare, season, and cook dishes according to recipes and restaurant standards.
- Ensure consistent taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Adapt dishes for dietary restrictions or special requests.
2. Menu Planning
- Assist in designing menus, daily specials, and seasonal offerings.
- Suggest cost-effective yet appealing dishes.
- Balance creativity with ingredient availability and cost.
3. Quality & Safety Control
- Check freshness and quality of ingredients before use.
- Maintain hygiene standards during food handling.
- Follow food safety laws (proper storage, cooking temperatures, labeling).
4. Kitchen Organization
- Set up workstations with all needed supplies.
- Ensure equipment is clean, maintained, and functioning.
- Organize prep lists and prioritize tasks to handle rush hours.
5. Inventory & Cost Management
- Track ingredient usage and reduce waste.
- Inform procurement staff of needed supplies.
- Help control food costs without compromising quality.
6. Teamwork & Supervision
- Coordinate with kitchen staff, servers, and management.
- Train junior cooks or kitchen assistants.
- Delegate tasks during busy service to keep workflow smooth.
7. Guest Satisfaction
- Prepare dishes that meet or exceed guest expectations.
- Handle complaints about food gracefully and make corrections if needed.
- Occasionally interact with guests (in open kitchens or special events).
8. Creativity & Innovation
- Experiment with new recipes and presentations.
- Keep up with food trends while respecting restaurant identity.
- Maintain a balance between tradition and innovation.
9. End-of-Shift Duties
- Clean workstations and ensure proper storage of leftovers.
- Turn off equipment safely.
- Review prep lists for the next day.
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
