Job Summary
The Electrical Assembly Engineer is responsible for the electrical assembly, wiring, panel integration, testing, and commissioning of Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines. The role includes electrical panel assembly, machine wiring, installation of CNC components, troubleshooting electrical faults, and supporting machine commissioning to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete electrical assembly and wiring of VMC machines according to electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Assemble and wire CNC electrical panels, including MCCBs, MCBs, relays, contactors, SMPS, transformers, terminal blocks, and safety circuits.
- Install and connect servo motors, spindle motors, encoders, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoid valves, lubrication units, hydraulic systems, coolant pumps, and ATC systems.
- Route, terminate, and label cables as per electrical standards.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, and BOMs.
- Integrate CNC controllers such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Syntec with machine electrical systems.
- Perform continuity, insulation resistance, grounding, and functional electrical tests before machine startup.
- Troubleshoot wiring, control, and electrical component issues during assembly and testing.
- Support machine power-up, commissioning, and functional testing.
- Coordinate with mechanical assembly, CNC, and quality teams during machine integration.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, quality procedures, and 5S practices.
- Maintain electrical assembly records, test reports, and inspection documentation.
- Assist in machine installation and customer-site commissioning when required.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electrical Engineering (EE), or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in CNC/VMC machine electrical assembly or machine tool manufacturing.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical wiring and control panel assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with CNC control systems such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Syntec.
- Knowledge of servo drives, spindle drives, PLC I/O wiring, HMIs, sensors, and industrial automation components.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic electrical controls.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments such as multimeters, insulation testers (megger), clamp meters, and continuity testers.
- Understanding of industrial safety standards, earthing, and electrical protection systems.
- Basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting is an added advantage.
