ROLE PURPOSE
The Project Manager – Civil will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of civil construction projects, with specific emphasis on precast construction methodology. The role requires strong technical command over precast design coordination, casting yard operations, erection sequencing, and site execution, along with the ability to manage budgets, timelines, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within cost.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Precast Construction & Technical Execution
- Lead planning and execution of precast construction activities including panel design coordination, mould planning, casting yard layout, and production scheduling.
- Oversee precast element casting, curing, demoulding, storage, transportation, and erection sequencing to ensure structural integrity and dimensional accuracy.
- Coordinate with design and structural engineering teams on precast detailing, connection design, and joint treatment specific to precast systems.
- Monitor quality control at every stage of the precast lifecycle — mix design, casting, curing, and erection — in coordination with the QA/QC team.
- Evaluate and recommend precast vs. cast-in-situ methodology for specific project segments based on cost, timeline, and site constraints.
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop detailed project execution plans, schedules, and resource plans (manpower, machinery, materials) for assigned civil projects.
- Monitor project progress against baseline schedules using tools such as MS Project / Primavera, and proactively address slippages.
- Coordinate site mobilization, temporary works, and logistics planning across multiple project sites.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize construction cost and timelines without compromising quality or safety.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Prepare and manage project budgets, monitor actual costs against approved budgets, and report variances to management.
- Review and validate bills of quantities (BOQ), rate analysis, and contractor/vendor invoices related to civil and precast works.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in procurement, material handling, and construction methodology.
Contractor, Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with civil contractors, precast fabricators, transporters, and erection agencies, ensuring contractual compliance.
- Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, statutory authorities, and internal stakeholders for design approvals and site clearances.
- Represent the project in client, consultant, and management review meetings, presenting progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all civil and precast construction activities comply with applicable IS codes, structural safety norms, and statutory regulations.
- Implement and monitor site safety protocols, particularly around heavy lifting, crane operations, and precast erection activities.
- Conduct periodic site audits and inspections to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and mentor site engineers, supervisors, and project support staff, building technical capability within the team.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with HR, procurement, and finance teams on manpower planning, material procurement, and cost approvals.
- Drive a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement across project teams.
