1. Job Summary
The General Duty Assistant (GDA) is responsible for providing basic patient care and assistance to nursing staff, ensuring patient comfort, hygiene, safety, cleanliness, and smooth day-to-day patient care activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
- Assist in shifting and transferring patients safely using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds.
- Maintain patient comfort and cleanliness.
- Assist nursing staff in basic patient-care activities as instructed.
- Check and maintain cleanliness of patient beds, bedside areas, and patient-care equipment.
- Help patients with mobility and positioning as advised by nursing staff.
- Assist in feeding patients as per nursing instructions.
- Maintain proper hygiene and infection-control practices.
- Dispose of waste according to hospital biomedical waste guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of patient-care areas.
- Report any change in the patient's condition, discomfort, fall, or emergency immediately to the Staff Nurse.
- Assist in emergency situations as directed by nursing staff.
- Maintain privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of patients.
- Support nursing staff during admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Ensure proper availability of basic patient-care items.
- Follow hospital SOPs, safety policies, infection-control guidelines, and disciplinary rules.
- Perform other patient-care duties assigned by the Nursing In-Charge or Management.
3. Critical Care / ICU Responsibilities
- Assist nursing staff in providing basic care to critically ill patients.
- Maintain cleanliness and comfort of ICU patients.
- Assist with patient positioning and shifting under supervision.
- Ensure ICU surroundings and patient-care areas remain clean and organized.
- Assist with collection and disposal of waste as per biomedical waste protocols.
- Immediately report any abnormal patient condition or equipment-related concern to the Staff Nurse.
- Do not independently administer medicines, injections, IV fluids, or perform clinical procedures unless specifically authorized and trained.
4. Required Skills
- Basic patient-care knowledge.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.
- Ability to handle patients carefully and respectfully.
- Knowledge of basic infection-control practices.
- Teamwork and coordination with nursing and other hospital departments.
- Physically capable of assisting with patient movement and shifting.
5. Qualification & Experience
Qualification: GDA / Nursing Assistant / Healthcare Assistant course preferred.
Experience: Freshers can be considered; hospital experience will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹8,459.24 - ₹10,305.98 per month
