The SAP BTP Platform Administrator is responsible for the design, setup, configuration, and ongoing administration of the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). This role ensures a secure, scalable, and high-performing platform that supports SAP and non-SAP application development, integration, and extension strategies. The position plays a critical role in enabling innovation and modernization through the SAP BTP ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Setup & Provisioning
Lead initial setup and configuration of SAP BTP global accounts, subaccounts, directories, and environments (Cloud Foundry, Kyma, ABAP Environment).
Define and implement account models aligned with organizational structure and governance policies.
Configure entitlements, quotas, and service plans across subaccounts.
Establish naming conventions, tagging strategies, and resource hierarchy standards.
Administration & Operations
Manage lifecycle of BTP subaccounts, services, and environments.
Monitor platform health, performance, and usage using SAP BTP cockpit and monitoring tools (e.g., SAP Cloud ALM).
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for platform-related issues.
Manage transport routes and deployment pipelines where applicable.
DevOps & Automation
Configure CTMS and support CI/CD pipelines and automation for BTP deployments.
Develop scripts and automation for provisioning, monitoring, and administration tasks (e.g., CLI, Terraform).
Promote Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
Governance & Standards
Define and enforce platform governance, best practices, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with architecture teams to align BTP usage with enterprise architecture.
Provide guidance and standards for development teams using BTP services.
Cost Management & Optimization
Monitor usage and consumption of BTP services.
Provide cost transparency and reports to stakeholders.
Optimize resource allocation and licensing to control costs.
Support & Enablement
Act as L2/L3 support for BTP-related issues.
Enable application teams through documentation, onboarding sessions, and best practices.
Maintain platform runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
5+ years of SAP Basis / cloud platform administration experience.
2+ years of hands-on experience with SAP BTP administration.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
Experience working in hybrid (cloud + on-premises) SAP landscapes.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of SAP BTP architecture and services.
Experience with:
SAP BTP Cockpit and CLI tools
Cloud Foundry / Kyma environments
SAP Cloud Connector
S/4 Administration
Identity Authentication Service (IAS) and Identity Provisioning Service (IPS) (preferred)
SAP Integration Suite (preferred)
Familiarity with networking (VPN, proxies, DNS, certificates).
Scripting/automation skills (Shell, Python, Terraform, or similar).
Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
Preferred Certifications
SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP BTP Administration (or similar)
SAP Certified Development/Integration certifications (BTP-related)
Cloud certifications (Azure, AWS, GCP)
