Associate Professor – Mechanical Engineering (Design / CAD or Robotics & Automation Specialization only)

Job Summary:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering invites applications for the position of Associate Professor in the areas of Mechanical Design (with CAD expertise) or Robotics & Automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, research potential, and passion for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. This position is part of the institute’s commitment to strengthening teaching, research, and innovation in emerging and interdisciplinary areas of mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities: Teaching:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering.
- Conduct lectures, tutorials, lab sessions, and project supervision in subjects such as:
- Engineering Design, Machine Design
- CAD/CAM, Solid Modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Systems
- Develop new course material and continuously improve existing curriculum.
- Guide student projects, theses, and internships.
Research:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in the chosen area of specialization.
- Publish research papers in reputed journals and conferences.
- Apply for research grants and funding.
- Collaborate with industry and academic institutions for research and development projects.
Service and Outreach:
- Participate in departmental and institutional committees.
- Assist in organizing workshops, conferences, and student development activities.
- Contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes (e.g., NBA, NAAC).
- Mentor students for academic and career development.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with specialization in:
- Mechanical Design / CAD / FEA / Product Design
OR
- Robotics / Mechatronics / Automation / Control Systems
- First-class (or equivalent) in B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. degrees.
- Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct high-quality research.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in using CAD/CAE tools (such as SolidWorks, CATIA, ANSYS, AutoCAD, Fusion 360).
- Proficiency in programming and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ROS, Python, LabVIEW, Arduino, PLCs).
- Experience in industry-relevant projects or consultancy.
- Teaching experience at UG/PG level.
- Strong publication record in SCI/Scopus-indexed journals.
