The Shift Incharge – Quality is responsible for managing all quality assurance and quality control activities during the assigned shift in a plastics manufacturing plant. The role ensures that injection molded, blow molded, extrusion, or other plastic products meet customer specifications, CIPET-recommended quality practices, and applicable ISO standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise QC inspectors and quality technicians during the shift.
- Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections of plastic components.
- Ensure products comply with customer drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor critical process parameters for injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, or thermoforming.
- Approve machine start-up after first-piece inspection.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming products.
- Investigate quality defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate with production, tool room, maintenance, and planning departments to resolve quality issues.
- Review production quality reports and maintain inspection records.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier caliper
- Micrometer
- Height gauge
- Bore gauge
- Profile projector (if applicable)
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) (if available)
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (automotive), customer-specific requirements, and 5S practices.
- Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and process audits.
- Monitor rejection, rework, scrap, and customer complaint trends.
- Train operators and inspectors on quality standards and inspection methods.
- Ensure calibration status of measuring instruments.
- Prepare daily shift quality reports and ensure proper shift handover.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Plastic Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- PGD-PPT, DPT, or B.Tech/M.Tech from CIPET is preferred.
- 1–6 years of experience in plastics manufacturing quality.
Pay: ₹24,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
