Job Summary
The In-Process Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product quality during plastic injection molding operations. The role focuses on monitoring production processes, preventing defects, conducting root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor injection molding processes to ensure consistent product quality
- Conduct First Article Inspection (FAI), in-process inspections, and final audits
- Verify process parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, cooling time, material drying)
- Ensure adherence to control plans, work instructions, and inspection standards
- Review SPC data and initiate corrective actions for process deviations
- Investigate defects such as short shots, flash, sink marks, warpage, burn marks, weld lines, bubbles, and dimensional variations
- Lead root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis
- Implement containment and corrective actions
- Coordinate with production, tool room, and maintenance teams for process improvements
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE in Mechanical, Production, or Polymer Engineering
- 2–5 years of experience in injection molding quality (Automotive preferred)
- Knowledge of SPC, quality tools, and control plans
- Experience in handling audits and customer requirements is an advantage
