Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in tool room operations, CNC machining, and VMC programming. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing machining programs, optimizing production processes, ensuring component quality, and supporting tooling and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC and VMC programs for production and tool room applications.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models to create machining programs.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Set up and prove out new jobs on CNC and VMC machines.
- Optimize cycle times while maintaining quality and productivity.
- Coordinate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure timely delivery of components.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy through in-process inspections and final verification.
- Maintain tooling, fixtures, and machining documentation.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company quality procedures.
- Support preventive maintenance activities for CNC and VMC machines.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC milling and VMC programming.
- Proficiency in G-code and M-code programming.
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, PowerMill, NX CAM, or similar.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, tool path optimization, and fixture design.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments including CMM, micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Good understanding of machining processes, tooling materials, and machine maintenance.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with high-precision tooling, dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures.
- Hands-on experience with 3-axis and 4-axis VMC machines.
- Exposure to CAD software such as AutoCAD, or Siemens NX.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
