Job Summary
The Purchase Engineer will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor coordination, and timely availability of raw materials, engineering components, electrical items, fabrication materials, and consumables required for manufacturing and EPC operations. The role supports cost optimization, quality compliance, and uninterrupted production planning.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
- Procure materials required for manufacturing and project execution, including:
- CRGO steel / electrical steel
- Copper / aluminum conductors
- Transformer accessories
- Fabrication steel and hardware
- Electrical and mechanical consumables
- Packaging materials
- Generate and process purchase requisitions, RFQs, comparative statements, and purchase orders.
- Coordinate with planning, production, stores, and project teams for material requirements.
Vendor Management
- Identify and develop new suppliers for cost-effective sourcing.
- Obtain quotations, negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery, and commercial terms.
Technical Evaluation
- Review technical specifications, drawings, BOQ, and material requirements before procurement.
- Coordinate with engineering and quality teams for technical approvals.
- Ensure purchased materials meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
Cost & Inventory Control
- Support cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing and value engineering.
- Monitor stock levels and avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Maintain optimum inventory levels for production continuity.
Documentation & ERP
- Prepare purchase orders and maintain procurement records in ERP systems.
- Track order status, delivery schedules, GRN, invoice reconciliation, and payment follow-up.
- Maintain supplier documentation, contracts, and procurement MIS reports.
Coordination
- Work closely with:

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering
- Diploma with relevant experience may also be considered.
