ob Summary
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated VTL Setter Cum Operator to join our manufacturing team. The candidate should be capable of independently setting, operating, and maintaining VTL machines while ensuring production quality, productivity, and safety standards. Candidates with experience in heavy machining and precision components are preferred.
Roles & ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup
- Perform complete machine setup as per production drawings.
- Install and align fixtures, jaws, chucks, and cutting tools.
- Set work offsets and tool offsets accurately.
- Prepare machine for first-off approval.
Machine Operation
- Operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) machines efficiently.
- Load and unload components safely.
- Monitor machining cycles to ensure smooth production.
- Perform tool changes whenever required.
- Maintain cycle time and production targets.
Quality Inspection
- Read engineering drawings and process sheets.
- Measure components using:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Bore Gauge
- Height Gauge
- Dial Indicator
- Ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Record inspection results as per company standards.
Tool Management
- Select suitable cutting tools and inserts.
- Monitor tool wear and replace tools when necessary.
- Optimize tool life without affecting quality.
CNC Knowledge
- Understand CNC machine operations.
- Perform offset corrections.
- Edit minor program changes if required.
- Troubleshoot basic machining issues.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform daily machine cleaning.
- Check coolant and lubrication levels.
- Report machine abnormalities immediately.
- Support preventive maintenance activities.
Productivity Improvement
- Reduce setup time.
- Minimize machine downtime.
- Improve cycle time.
- Reduce rejection and rework.
- Support Kaizen and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Safety & 5S
- Follow all company safety procedures.
- Use PPE at all times.
- Maintain 5S standards in the work area.
- Ensure proper housekeeping before shift completion.
Teamwork
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
- Guide junior operators and trainees.
- Support shift handover with proper communication.
