The company supplies steel products to reputed corporate, PSU, government, infrastructure, engineering, railway-related and large industrial organizations.
We are looking for a dynamic, commercially driven, and result-oriented sales professional to strengthen our Corporate & Institutional Sales function, develop new business opportunities, manage key accounts, and contribute to sustainable revenue growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated and result-oriented Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Sales & Marketing to lead and drive the company's Corporate & Institutional B2B Sales initiatives in the steel industry.
The incumbent will be responsible for business development, corporate sales, institutional sales, key account management, market development, sales planning, customer relationship management, commercial negotiations, order generation, and revenue growth.
The ideal candidate should have strong exposure to handling large corporate, PSU, government, infrastructure, engineering, OEM and industrial customers and should be capable of developing long-term business relationships.
The role requires a commercially focused professional who can work closely with Directors, Senior Management, Commercial, Finance, Production, Dispatch and Operations teams to ensure successful order execution and customer satisfaction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Corporate & Institutional Sales
- Develop and execute effective sales strategies for Corporate, Institutional, PSU and large Industrial customers.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within the steel and industrial sector.
- Build strong relationships with procurement, purchase, commercial and technical teams of large organizations.
- Generate enquiries, RFQs, quotations and new business opportunities.
- Develop long-term business relationships with key corporate and institutional customers.
- Drive repeat business and increase business volume from existing customers.
- Achieve assigned sales, revenue and business development targets.
2. Key Account Management
- Manage and develop relationships with key corporate and institutional accounts.
- Understand customer requirements, procurement cycles, product specifications and commercial expectations.
- Maintain regular communication with key decision-makers and procurement teams.
- Ensure timely response to customer enquiries and commercial requirements.
- Resolve customer issues and coordinate internally for timely solutions.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling, up-selling and account expansion.
3. Steel Product Sales & Business Development
- Promote and sell the company's steel products to corporate and industrial customers.
- Develop new markets, customer segments and business territories.
- Understand steel product applications, specifications, demand, pricing and market trends.
- Identify potential customers across infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, railway, power and other industrial sectors.
- Conduct customer visits, business meetings and product discussions as required.
- Develop strategic approaches for increasing market penetration and sales volumes.
4. RFQ, Tender, Quotation & Commercial Negotiation
- Handle customer RFQs, enquiries, quotations and commercial proposals.
- Coordinate with internal teams for preparation of technical and commercial offers.
- Participate in price and commercial negotiations with customers.
- Monitor market prices, competitor pricing, demand and supply conditions.
- Ensure appropriate pricing while maintaining company margins and commercial objectives.
- Coordinate with management for approval of special pricing, commercial terms and major orders.
- Maintain proper records of quotations, negotiations and order status.
5. Order Booking & Execution Coordination
- Convert enquiries and quotations into confirmed orders.
- Coordinate with Production, Commercial, Dispatch, Finance and Operations teams for smooth order execution.
- Monitor order status, delivery schedules and customer commitments.
- Ensure timely communication with customers regarding production and dispatch status.
- Coordinate resolution of issues related to quality, documentation, dispatch, billing and delivery.
- Ensure customer commitments are met within agreed commercial and delivery terms.
6. Sales Planning, MIS & Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales plans.
- Monitor sales performance against assigned targets.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly sales MIS.
- Track enquiries, quotations, order booking, dispatches, collections and outstanding business.
- Prepare sales forecasts and provide regular updates to Directors / Senior Management.
- Analyse customer-wise, product-wise and market-wise sales performance.
- Provide management with market intelligence, competitor information and business opportunities.
7. Market Intelligence & Business Expansion
- Monitor steel market trends, pricing, demand, supply and competitor activities.
- Identify emerging opportunities in corporate, PSU, infrastructure, power, railway, engineering and industrial sectors.
- Develop strategies for entering new customer segments and markets.
- Track major projects and potential procurement opportunities.
- Build a strong pipeline of prospective corporate and institutional customers.
- Provide management with actionable insights for business expansion.
8. Receivables & Commercial Coordination
- Coordinate with Finance & Accounts for timely collection of customer outstanding payments.
- Monitor customer credit limits, payment terms and receivables.
- Follow up with customers regarding overdue payments wherever required.
- Support the organization in maintaining healthy working capital.
- Coordinate with Finance and Commercial teams regarding billing, documentation and payment-related issues.
9. Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, guide and motivate the Sales & Marketing team.
- Set clear sales targets, KPIs and performance expectations.
- Monitor individual and team performance.
- Conduct regular sales reviews and develop action plans for achieving targets.
- Build a culture of accountability, customer focus and result orientation.
- Develop and improve sales processes, reporting systems and customer management practices.
10. Management Coordination & Strategic Business Development
- Work closely with Directors and Senior Management on business development and sales strategies.
- Present sales performance, market developments and business opportunities to management.
- Support management in strategic customer acquisition and market expansion initiatives.
- Participate in important customer meetings and commercial discussions.
- Represent the company professionally before corporate, PSU, institutional and industrial customers.
- Contribute to the company's overall revenue growth and long-term business objectives.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Graduate / Postgraduate in Business, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the Steel Industry.
- Strong experience in Corporate / Institutional / B2B Sales and Business Development.
- Experience in handling large corporate, PSU, government, infrastructure, engineering, railway-related, OEM or industrial customers will be highly preferred.
- Experience in selling steel products to reputed organizations and institutional buyers will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of steel products, market pricing, customer requirements and commercial practices.
- Proven ability to achieve sales targets and develop new business.
- Strong negotiation, communication, presentation and relationship management skills.
- Strong commercial and analytical approach.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with Senior Management and cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings, business development and market visits as required.
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: ₹6.00 LPA – ₹8.00 LPA
Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, relevant industry experience, sales performance, leadership capabilities and overall suitability for the position.
