Job Summary
Anandi School is seeking a proactive, knowledgeable, and highly organised Science Lab Technician to establish and manage our science laboratories in alignment with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and curriculum. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in setting up inquiry-driven laboratory spaces that foster curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on learning for students from the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP).
This role extends beyond laboratory management and requires someone who can plan, source, organise, and maintain laboratory resources while collaborating closely with teachers to create authentic, safe, and engaging practical learning experiences.
Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Setup & Development
- Set up and organise science laboratories in accordance with IB curriculum requirements and international safety standards.
- Assist in designing flexible, student-centred laboratory spaces that encourage inquiry, experimentation, and collaborative learning.
- Recommend and procure laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, furniture, chemicals, models, and digital resources aligned with the IB curriculum.
- Develop systems for the efficient organisation, storage, and maintenance of laboratory resources.
Laboratory Operations
- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens, and materials for practical lessons.
- Support science teachers during practical investigations and demonstrations.
- Set up, dismantle, and maintain laboratory activities for regular classes, exhibitions, STEM events, and science fairs.
- Ensure laboratories remain clean, organised, and fully operational at all times.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Maintain accurate inventories of chemicals, laboratory equipment, glassware, specimens, and consumables.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate procurement of laboratory supplies.
- Maintain records of equipment servicing, calibration, chemical usage, and laboratory assets.
- Ensure proper labelling and storage of all chemicals and scientific materials.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Implement and monitor laboratory safety protocols in accordance with IB best practices and statutory regulations.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals, biological materials, and laboratory waste.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Maintain first-aid kits, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, and other emergency equipment in working condition.
- Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, or maintenance requirements promptly.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with science teachers to support inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning.
- Assist in planning laboratory investigations that align with IB units of inquiry and the MYP/DP science curriculum.
- Support student-led research projects, STEM initiatives, exhibitions, and entrepreneurship programmes where appropriate.
- Participate in school events requiring laboratory support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Science Lab Technician in a school or educational institution is preferred.
- Experience in setting up or managing science laboratories is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is preferred; candidates with strong laboratory management experience and a willingness to learn IB practices are also encouraged to apply.
- Basic computer proficiency for inventory management, documentation, and reporting.

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹90,000.00 per month
