Meditrina Hospital, Kollam is looking for a responsible and dedicated Assistant – Endoscopy Department to support the smooth and efficient functioning of the Endoscopy Unit. The selected candidate will assist the clinical and nursing team in patient preparation, procedure room readiness, equipment handling, infection prevention practices, and post-procedure support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Endoscopy team in preparing patients for endoscopic procedures.
- Prepare and arrange the procedure room, equipment, instruments, consumables, and accessories before procedures.
- Assist doctors and nursing staff during endoscopy procedures as instructed.
- Ensure availability of required consumables and accessories for scheduled procedures.
- Assist in shifting and positioning patients safely before, during, and after procedures.
- Support cleaning, disinfection, and appropriate handling of endoscopy-related equipment and accessories as per hospital protocols.
- Assist in the collection, segregation, and safe disposal of biomedical waste as per prescribed guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the Endoscopy Unit at all times.
- Assist with transportation and handling of equipment, instruments, specimens, and other materials as required.
- Ensure proper storage of equipment, instruments, and consumables.
- Report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment to the concerned supervisor immediately.
- Support inventory checking and inform the concerned department regarding stock shortages.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and PPE requirements.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
- Assist in maintaining department records and checklists as assigned.
- Follow hospital policies, departmental SOPs, safety standards, and NABH requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, technicians, housekeeping, CSSD, and other concerned departments.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Endoscopy In-charge / Nursing In-charge / Department Head.
Eligibility
- Qualification: Minimum Plus Two / equivalent qualification.
- Prior experience in a hospital, Endoscopy Unit, Gastroenterology Department, OT, or procedure area will be an added advantage.
- Freshers with a strong willingness to learn may also be considered.

- Basic understanding of hospital infection-control practices.
- Ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and safety protocols accurately.

- Physically fit and capable of assisting with patient movement and departmental activities.
- Basic computer knowledge will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as per hospital requirements.
