Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics Manager to lead and optimize our end-to-end logistics and distribution operations. The role is responsible for ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of finished goods from our manufacturing facilities to C&F agents, distributors, modern trade partners, e-commerce customers, and other sales channels across India. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in transportation management, vendor management, logistics cost optimization, warehouse coordination, and service excellence within the Food Manufacturing/FMCG industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end domestic logistics operations and ensure timely and cost-effective movement of finished goods.
- Plan and monitor dispatches from manufacturing units to C&F agents, depots, distributors, modern trade, institutional customers, and e-commerce partners.
- Ensure efficient vehicle utilization and route planning to improve service levels.
- Monitor order fulfilment and delivery performance to achieve OTIF (On Time In-Full) targets.
- Coordinate with transporters and logistics service providers for smooth and timely transportation.
- Negotiate freight rates and transportation terms to optimize logistics costs.
- Monitor transporter performance based on service quality, delivery timelines, cost, and compliance.
- Ensure timely availability of vehicles as per dispatch requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Warehouse, Sales, and Customer Service teams for smooth dispatch planning.
- Ensure proper loading, unloading, and movement of finished goods while minimizing transit damages.
- Support inventory movement between factories, warehouses, depots, and distribution centres as required.
- Monitor logistics and freight costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Improve route planning, vehicle utilization, and overall logistics efficiency.
- Track logistics KPIs and prepare MIS reports and performance dashboards.
- Use ERP systems and other technology tools to improve logistics planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GST requirements, e-way bills, transporter documentation, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of freight bills, Proof of Delivery (POD), and other logistics documents.
- Ensure transportation practices comply with applicable food safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
- Coordinate with Sales and Customer Service teams to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
- Proactively resolve delivery delays, shortages, damages, and other logistics-related issues.
- Lead and support the logistics team to achieve operational and service objectives.
- Set clear responsibilities and performance expectations for team members.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and safe working practices.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain, Operations, or Logistics Management will be preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Logistics and Distribution, preferably in the Food Manufacturing, FMCG, or Consumer Products industry.
- Proven experience in managing transportation networks and large-scale distribution operations.
- Experience in handling dispatches to distributors, C&F agents, Modern Trade, retail channels, and other customers.
- Strong understanding of factory logistics, warehouse coordination, and finished goods movement.
- Good knowledge of transportation management, freight planning, route optimization, and distribution operations.
- Hands-on experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or equivalent systems.
- Strong knowledge of GST documentation, e-way bills, freight reconciliation, and transportation-related compliance.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and preparation of logistics MIS and performance reports.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to lead and develop a team.
- Excellent negotiation and transporter/vendor management capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and execution focus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
