As we continue to scale our platform, we're looking for a DevOps Engineer who is passionate about automation, cloud infrastructure, security, and building reliable deployment pipelines.
About the Role: As a DevOps Engineer, you'll work closely with software engineers, QA, and product teams to build and maintain a highly available, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure. You'll automate deployments, improve CI/CD pipelines, monitor production systems, and help ensure platform reliability as Merchmix grows.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges, optimizing developer workflows, and building modern cloud-native systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for faster and reliable deployments.
- Manage cloud infrastructure primarily on AWS/GCP.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Build and maintain containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Monitor production systems and proactively identify performance or reliability issues.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting using modern observability tools.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment processes and release quality.
- Manage Linux servers, networking, and security best practices.
- Optimize infrastructure costs while maintaining performance and scalability.
- Support disaster recovery, backup strategies, and system availability.
- Ensure infrastructure follows security and compliance best practices.
Required Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering.
- Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Compute Engine, GKE, IAM, VPC, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Run, Cloud Build, and Cloud Monitoring. Experience with AWS is an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Good knowledge of Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Experience with scripting using Python, Bash, or Shell scripting.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, DNS, load balancers, SSL, and firewalls.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
- Familiarity with Git version control.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting production SaaS applications.
- Knowledge of security best practices, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability management.
- Experience with microservices architecture.
- Understanding of databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and caching technologies (Redis).
- GCP or AWS cloud certifications, along with Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD) or Terraform certifications, are a plus.
